Three New Character Posters for Hop Seek to Charm : HeyUGuys–UK Movie / Film Blog

Why not spend a few short moments taking a look at the new international character poster for Tim Hill’s animated film, Hop.

Out on the 1st of April this one has Russell Brand andJames Marsden(one voicing a CG Rabbit, the other not) and let’s be clear– the only thing that will differentiate this from the thousand and one other CG/Real Life mash ups currently in production is a decent script with perhaps a hint of subversion.

Synopsis time reading fans,

Blending state of the art animation with live action, Hop is a comedy about E.B. (voiced by Russell Brand), the teenage son of the Easter Bunny. On the eve of taking over the family business, E.B. leaves for Hollywood in pursuit of his dream of becoming a drummer. He encounters Fred (James Marsden), an out-of-work slacker with his own lofty goals, who accidentally hits E.B. with his car. Feigning injury, E.B. manipulates Fred into providing him shelter, and Fred finds himself with the world’s worst houseguest.

Three posters await you should you cast your eyes downwards and click like crazy to make them big and stuff.

IMPAdid it again.

First Look at Rachel McAdams and Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick’s Romance Drama : HeyUGuys–UK Movie / Film Blog

FilmNation Entertainment have released a first look still of Rachel McAdams and Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick’s upcoming romance drama.

The as-yet-untitled film stars McAdams, Affleck, Javier Bardem, Rachel Weisz, Olga Kurylenko, Jessica Chastain, Charlie Baker, Amanda Peet and Barry Pepper.

No word on when it’ll be released, but it’s unlikely to hit until 2012 at the earliest.

If you can’t wait until 2012 for your next Malick fix, then fear not, the long-delayed The Tree of Life will be released in the Summer.

Check out the vague plot details and first look still for the upcoming romance drama below:

Set over a period of years, the film stars Affleck as Neil, a failed writer stuck in a loveless marriage with Marina (Kurylenko), whose expiring visa put pressure on Neil to propose. Neil and Marina have a daughter (Tatiana Chilin) together, but both of them are looking outside the marriage. Neil is drawn to Jane (McAdams) and Marina betrays her husband by having an affair with Charlie (Charles Baker).

Both Neil and Marina seek guidance from Father Quintana (Bardem), a priest frustrated by his inability to live his own life because he’s too busy advising his parishioners on theirs. The couple’s dysfunctional relationship begins to take a toll on their daughter, who starts having problems in school.

Neil is investigating a treatment plant that may be distributing contaminated water. He’s also still in love with a woman from his past and doesn’t have the courage to let her go, imagining her as a blindfolded ghost throughout the film.

After Marina dents her car and burns dinner, she and Neil have a fight and discuss splitting up. Marina feels like she and Neil are brother and sister and Neil admits that he feels burdened by her. After Neil storms out, his daughter begins talking in her sleep.

Charlie takes an interest in Marina and begins to seduce her by giving her a wind harp.

After cheating on Neil, she admits her affair to him, while Neil confesses to Father Quintana that he thought he could marry without love. The duo talk about marriage, miracles and despair, and Father Quintana advises him not to get divorced. The two of them debate the subject, prompting Neil to break down and later decide to clear his head by going fishing.

Neil and Jane share a kiss, which Jane doesn’t feel bad about because she knows Neil doesn’t love his wife. She plans to wait for Neil to get tired of Marina.

After Marina gets fired from her job, she runs into Father Quintana and the duo share several other chance encounters. She expresses the desire to do charity work and winds up volunteering at a soup kitchen.

Rachel Weisz plays Dinah, Neil’s friend who can’t bear to see Neil hurting himself.

Romina Mondello plays Anna, who is married but has a boyfriend. She and her husband have a fight and she breaks up with him. She urges Marina to do the same but Marina decides to take a trip to Europe.

When Marina returns, Dinah advises Jane to let Neil go now that his wife is back. Jane resigns to marry another suitor named Bradley, while Dinah is surprised to learn that her brother has now fallen in love with Marina, who at one point, learns she might need a hysterectomy.

Though Father Quintana constantly makes the time to listen to his parishioners’ problems, he is repaid by having his car broken into and his air conditioner stolen. He begins giving communion at bars, but it’s not long before he draws the ire of the local bishop and is sent to Kansas.

D. J. Caruso To Direct Preacher Adaptation? : HeyUGuys–UK Movie / Film Blog

Tonight, HeyUGuys has a tweet in store for all you Preacher fans out there (tweet = treat, get it? Never mind), one which strongly suggests thatD. J. Caruso, director of Disturbia and the soon to be released I Am Number Four, is set to helm an upcoming adaptation of the comic book series.

Writing on his Twitter account, the director today commented:“My deal just closed on Preacher. Going back to the dark side and pretty fucking pumped!” Although it’s always best to wait for studio confirmation on these matters, this news suggests we might finally see some movement on the long discussed adaptation.

Stuck in development hell for the last ten years, Preacher has seen several scripts come and go (including screenplays by the comic’s writer and co-creator, Garth Ennis) along with around half a dozen directors (the A-Team’sJoe Carnahanjoining names as established as Sam Mendes, who left the project to focus on Bond 23). The latest known version comes from a screenplay byJohn August(Big Fish), which itself has been doing the rounds for at least a year.

Created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, Preacher tells the story of Rev. Jesse Custer, a disillusioned Texas priest who teams up with Irish vampire named Cassidy and his ex-lover Tulip to track down God and demand answers. You see, the Lord has left Heaven in the wake of an unholy sexual union in which an angel and a demon conceived a new entity– a being that has now embedded itself in Custer, allowing him to command people with the Word of God. It’s a journey that is both dark and twisted on a monumental scale.

Speaking of monumental, that word may go some way to explaining why a Preacher film has such difficulty getting off the ground. Preacher isbig. The synopsis above essentially covers Volume 1 of what is a nine volume story arc.  Word has it then whenMark Steven Johnsonwas commissioned to try and turn Preacher into a mini-series for HBO, he said that“Every issue {had to be} an hour”. That would be sixty-six hours of episodes. Getting things down to a two-hour runtime can’t have been easy.

So, with Preacher finally set for the big screen, is D. J. Caruso the man for the job? His latest fare may seem slightly mainstream, but his 2002 breakthrough The Salton Sea certainly had no lack of dark subject matter. But what do you think– should a Preacher film be made, or have studios been right to keep the project on hold? Comment below to let us know.

Trailer, Poster& Images from Oranges and Sunshine : HeyUGuys–UK Movie / Film Blog

Icon have sent us brand new assets to accompany their new movie, Oranges and Sunshine which hits UK cinemas 1st April this year. It’s directed by Jim Loach and starsEmily Watson,Hugo Weavingand David Wehham.

Synopsis: Oranges and Sunshine tells the story of Margaret Humphreys, a social worker from Nottingham who uncovered one of the most significant social scandals of recent times: the deportation of thousands of children from the United Kingdom to Australia.

Almost single-handedly, against overwhelming odds and with little regard for her own well-being, Margaret reunited thousands of families, brought authorities to account and drew worldwide attention to an extraordinary miscarriage of justice. Children as young as four had been told that their parents were dead, and been sent to children’s homes on the other side of the world. Many were subjected to appalling abuse. They were promised oranges and sunshine: they got hard labour and life in institutions.

I’ve placed the trailer below along with some images from the movie and the poster, all of which you can click to enlarge.

Hall Pass Red Band Trailer and Four Clips : HeyUGuys–UK Movie / Film Blog

What better way to spend a Friday night than in the company of a Red Band trailer and a handful of clips for a forthcoming American comedy?

Hall Pass is the latest Farrelly brothers comedy so make of that what you will, but I’m guessing we don’t delve too far into the subtleties of modern American life with this one– but expect jokes and things that would make Bernard Manning blush (if he could).

The Red Band trailer is in no way safe for work so if you’re at work– get up, leave early, log on at home and laugh until your face is dry.

Synopsis: Best buds Rick and Fred (Owen WilsonandJason Sudeikis) have both been married for many years.  When they begin to show signs of restlessness at home, their wives (Jenna FischerandChristina Applegate) take a bold approach to revitalize their marriages: they grant the guys a“hall pass,” one week of freedom to do whatever they want.  No questions asked.

At first, it sounds like a dream come true for Rick and Fred, but they quickly discover that their expectations of the single life—and themselves—are completely and hilariously out of sync with reality.

Check out the rest of our Hall Pass coveragehere.

Hall Pass hits UK cinemas March 11th.

Adrianne Palicki Cast as Wonder Woman : HeyUGuys–UK Movie / Film Blog

There’s been speculation over who was going to play the character ofWonder Womanin NBC’s new TV series for quite a while now. But we can now rest easy as Warner Bros. have announced (viaDeadline) that Adrianne Palicki who I think I last saw in Legion has been cast as the ironic character and apparently she’s been given an invisible plane to celebrate!

According toDeadline, after a standout performance in Lone Star, she’s been picked to star as the comic book character made famous by Lynda Carter in the 1970s. The series will get a pilot before going into fully fledged production and I guess we’ll see how she gets on. I’m sure there will be a lot of excited people out there ready to see this series back on the big screen.

So, what do we think? A good choice? Let us know in the comments section below.

Simon Beaufoy Has Sharp Teeth, Danny Boyle May Bite for Next Project : HeyUGuys–UK Movie / Film Blog

Following the critical and commercial bonanza ofSlumdog Millionairewith 127 Hours was a bold move forDanny Boyle.

No doubt the director was offered all manner of scripts bookmarked with blank cheques but he wisely chose to use the Oscar momentum to tell the story he wanted to and now his film, and its lead actorJames Franco, have been nominated for this year’s awards. ScreenwriterSimon Beaufoyhas, along with Boyle,  been nominated for a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar and news comes today of what may be their next collaboration.

Speaking with Tom Brook forBBC AmericaBeaufoy spoke about a project he is currently working on, a gangland saga with a lycanthropic twist, and mentions that if it all works out then director Danny Boyle is interested in signing up.

Here’s what Beaufoy said,

It’s an adaptation of a book by a writer calledToby Barlowand it’s a very extraordinary mix of gangland Los Angeles, really, really rough — a lot of shootings — and the difference with this particular piece of work is that these gangs can shape-shift at will into packs of dogs

If I write it well enough, {Boyle} will direct it.

Here’s a synopsis for you,

An ancient race of lycanthropes has survived to the present day, and its numbers are growing. Bent on dominance, rival factions are initiating the down-and-out of L.A. into their rnaks. Caught in the middle are Anthony, a kindhearted, lovesick dogcatcher, and the object of his affection: a female werewolf who has abandoned her pack.
